Circus Policy and Implementation Plan

NCFI are delighted to welcome the Arts Council of Ireland, Head of Circus Laura Ivers and the Circus Team Ciara Coyne and Adam O’Keefe to officially launch the new Circus Policy and Implementation Plan.

Arts Council of Ireland launch their new Circus Policy and Implementation Plan

The policy outlines a vision for an Ireland where circus practice in all its forms is respected and celebrated, and where all citizens – especially young people – have access to high-quality circus performance and participation experiences.

The policy recognises four areas of circus practice in Ireland today: traditional circus, contemporary circus, youth circus, and social circus. It sets out strategic actions to support artistic excellence, fair pay and conditions, sector development, and greater public engagement.

Circus holds a unique place in Ireland’s cultural life – from its rich traditions to its exciting contemporary forms. With this policy, the Arts Council is setting out a clear commitment to support artists, protect and celebrate our heritage, and ensure that people in every part of the country can experience the skill, creativity and joy that circus brings.
