Jury Prize for Innovation – Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain 2023

A performance of dance-juggling based on circus-inspired physicality setting a group of five jugglers to dancing, JUVENTUD sees itself as a progressing demonstration of freely-circulating movement, in which beauty is not looked for in orderly perfection but through a mongrel complexity in which the individual does not cancel out the group – and vice-versa. Using youth as a point of departure and the future as the horizon to recharge with promising energies, JUVENTUD involves you in a game of variations played by five performers, in an ascending spiral mixing juggling, movement, sound, light and video. On a white stage framed in black, five bodies seek and lose one another, and play at catching each other. In a rhythmical crescendo, they assert themselves and influence one another in the search for a combination that will draw them into a common dynamic, both plural and shared.
